Thanks!

What a lot of nice birthday wishes! It was a great day.

I wrote about back-to-school and what changes and what does not at 5 Minutes for Parenting today. And now I am going to go make supper, which never changes.

Hi, it's me back one more time, on a break from Doritos and therefore able to do two-handed typing. So now I can tell you some of the things I loved about your recent posts:

Your homeschool curriculum--WOW.

The Misunderstood Betsy post and how you let your bruised daughter get back in the ring. SO brave of you. And her.

Your rant about Eat, Pray, Love. I never got around to reading the book but when I saw the movie trailer I said to Dean, "REALLY? This is the book everyone's been raving about? Gah!" Actually I didn't say "Gah," that's an abbreviation for longer ranting that I did say. Poor Dean. But I loved your insights about where the spiritual is truly to be found.

Also I loved the article about kids changing and not changing.

Happy belated birthday, and great post. It IS funny how much the kids remain the same at heart, although so very much changes everywhere else. I don't know why I'm surprised -- I'm a different person than I was at 15, and yet I still bemoan the same "issues" I've had for as long as I can remember. For some reason I had babies imagining that they were from some alien place, and they would be kinda like "test tube people," totally different from me or my human race. I would protect them and they would have lovely little lives because of ME, I suppose. ;)

This way is harder, but better. What a joy to raise WHOLE PEOPLE, and what a privilege to know them so well.
