The boy wanted a DSi for ages and we did NOT want him to have one. Oh, we certainly let him play enough computer games and we have a well-used Wii, but getting a DSi seemed like another thing altogether.
He could get one, we said, if he saved up the money for it. And then we sat back, smug and certain that our house would never have a DSi it.
It came in the mail today, to his immense delight. “Write your post on it!” he told me and so I am typing out this post on the tiny little keyboard, to his elaborate amusement.

good for him. He set a goal and achieved it. You have to be proud of that fact.
Yay to your frugal boy. Learning great lessons at a young age ... PAY WITH CASH!!
And I do love that header on your blog. So lovely. Spring .. Summer perhaps even.
that's awesome! I'd say he's earned his enjoyment!
I think that's great he managed to save enough to buy what he really wanted. He's obviously very proud of his accomplishment.
Kudos to him. And to you, too. He has acted upon the world and gained some true self esteem. (That's how it's done, in my experience...)
=)
he he.
Hahaha...I like his determination!
Love "revenge of the kid"!

See how out of it I am? I'm sitting here trying to understand how one writes a blog post on a video game machine.
Wow. He did it! I'm with you on the video game thing. We only have a fake Wii... Zone 40! I do think its totally cool that he saved up his own moola to buy what he wanted. Now he can appreciate his hard work/determination/gumption.
AWESOME! WAy to go, kiddo!
I know it's annoying for you, but what to go Boy. He set a goal and sacrificed and achieved it.
(But I feel your pain. Oh yes. I do. Warning: Don't ever challenge him to save up for a machine gun.)
we‘re so proud of you!............................................................
Well done, Boy!
BubTar has a plain old DS and is coveting a DSi very much!
LOL. Enjoy your hard earned new toy, young man!
I always regret consenting to let the kids save for something because I never think they'll do it. But they always do.
I don't even know what a DSi is, but I'm glad that you can enjoy it together ;)
And wow, your commenters are full of such value-driven quips. Are people really like that? I'm not gonna do well at teaching those lessons.
