Ask me a question!

Hey, Barb and Bev just asked their readers to ask them any question they liked, and I thought that was a lot of fun. So now I'm copying them and letting my muse have a nap for the day. Anything you want to know? Song lyrics you can't remember? Simple (very simple.) math questions you need answered for your grade two homework? Questions about gluten-free cooking for toddlers? Stuff about me? Ask away and I will answer all, unless you're a big creepy pervert.

Perhaps you have answered this already, but why is your blog called Frog and Toad Are Still Friends? Especially since you are not all that into amphibians???

how does your husband feel about your blogging, specifically about the children? does he read your blog on a regular basis?

What did you do before you had kids?

Do you have a good meatloaf recipe?

Becky said...

Do you do anything just for you? Hobbies, clubs, something that you just love to do apart from your husband and kids? I mean ... besides what you do for US!

How do you find time to comment on blogs? How do your kids feel about your blog? Have you decided to turn your blog into a book yet?

p.s. I finally made the marshmallows- you were right, dead easy!! I couldn't find peppermint extract though so mine taste more spearminty. I imagine they will taste great in hot cocoa though.

Why is that you are so cool? Tell me, so I can be as cool as you!!!

Is there a way to disguise protein and iron as a carbohydrate so my son thinks he's eating bread but getting the nutrition of a burger?

Great idea! What would you do with a day all to yourself and $1000.00 to spend in it?

Aliki2006 said...

Where do you see yourself in twenty years (beyond being a successful, well-published writer, of course...!)?

Did you go to university? What did you study? What do you want to be when you grow up?

On every one of these types of blogs, I always ask "What was your first date like with your Husband?"

It's not terribly creative, but I do so enjoy these stories.... so I'd love to hear your tale!

Do you own any Over The Rhine albums/which ones?

Which city would you most like to visit?

How would you like to spend your days, when your kids are all in school full time?

Susanne said...

Are you ready? Whahahaha.

Just kidding. My question is simple. Did you write well when you were a youngster? Did you enjoy writing as child or is it something that you developed a taste for as you were older? Did you use big words when you were a kid?

I know that's like 3 questions but roll it all into one, 'k?

Oh my gash, I could think of a thousand questions to ask you. Perhaps you've already written about this but how did you meet your hubby?

Maddy said...

What a great idea! Such a variety of questions! The answers could keep you going for weeks. Now can I think of a question? Maybe not, but I suspect an answer, that your blog is called "Frog and Toad are Still Friends" because they are the greatest series of books I've discovered since I was in America - dry wit, low sentiment and delightfully charming through the grouchiness.
Cheers

What I love best is that I have been reading you so faithfully and for so long that I think I could answer these questions for you--with less flare, of course, but with a whole lot of bang-on truth.

My crass question: you've mentioned your bustiness here and there. Now it's time to spill. What is your bra size and do you own some sexy bras or are they all utilitarian over the shoulder boulder holders? Erp. Please don't think me a big creepy pervert.

Here's a question best answered by a Ouiji board, but which I'd like to see your take on: will we ever pay off the law school loans?

Would you like to visit the states, and if so, where would you like to go?

I'm trying to think of a question for you but I am so self-focused today. Am I ever going to feel normal again? Why is life so hard? Why am I so sad? See? It is all about me today. I'm looking forward to seeing your answers to these other great questions.

Has anybody ever said you looked like Sarah Vowell? Do you think you look like Sarah Vowell?

Her face is rounder than yours, but you both have that "looking at the camera from under your eyebrows" thing going on.

This is a thinking ahead question, but what are your plans, if any, for when the Baby goes to school/has to be gluten free 'in public'? I'm always interested to hear how other parents handle food allergies/intolerances.

How is the diet going? Did you re-gain any of the eight pounds you lost over the holidays? I ask because I have been trying to lose ten pounds for, oh, six years (ever since I was a little pregnant with my first) and I cannot do it. So I want to either a) live vicariously through your weight loss success or b) feel better because Beck, in all her awesomeness, cannot lose those pesky few either.

For me? I need to know the ultimate dinner (and maybe dessert too) recipe(s). To be considered ultimate, they have to be a combination of:

a)easy to make
b)not expensive to make
c)delicious
d)even kids will eat 'em

If you were a superhero and needed an ordinary, secret identity, what would you choose?

Also, if you had to live in a Christopher Guest movie, in which one would you feel most at home? This Is Spinal Tap, A Mighty Wind, Best in Show, or Waiting for Guffman?

Susan said...

OK- I thought of another one.
How do you balance motherhood, wifehood, church membership, Canadian citizenship, and have any time left for yourself (and your blog?) Has this gotten easier as your children have gotten older? (Please say yes.)

I've already asked you my question ... and you were kind enough to send me the requested recipe. Of course, then i went on vacation to the states, came back and bought a house, moved, left town for Christmas... Now that we're settled/settling in, I actually intend to find the time to make them!

:-)

I'm looking forward to seeing you field the questions that have poured in to your comments, though!

In your last post you talked about haunted houses, so my question is: do you enjoy spooky stories/films?

I seem to remember reading you liked the wonderful The Children of Green Knowe which is deliciously spooky (and the BBC made a great drama out of it too). I love this kind of 'spooky' book, but get far too spooked out by the seriously scary kind of spooky book/film.

I can't think of anything to ask you that you would be willing to share! :0)

How about this - what's one thing that you are absolutely terrible at? Seems unlikely that there is anything, but I'm curious anyways.

If we ever got to meet and go out for coffee would you be the kind of person to:

(a) draw me out with lots of questions and say little about yourself

(b) keep the conversational ball afloat with spontaneous brilliance

(c) keep the conversational ball afloat with a prepared (and memorized) list of topics

(d) let the awkward silences sit there until I started gabbling to fill in the blanks?

(e) other (please specify)

And how do you make time for all of the fabulous things you do AND blogging? I'm seriously needing a bit of direction in bloggy time management.

Oh, I was going to write something, but I'm just feeling sorry for you at this point, imagining poor Beck, pounding out answers by the light of a single flickering candle late into the night. So, I'll just say "good luck" and I can't wait for the answers.

Hmmmm....I'm too tired to think of anything! I like letting YOU do all the work when I come here! ;) Oh, I have one:

When do you find time to bake -- and when did the kids start taking an interest? Because the monkey could care less when I show her the muffin batter, etc.....

Holy cow, Beck. You really opened the door didn't you!

OK. Which one of those blouses did you finally choose? Wait! I think that one's already been asked a time or two. Nevermind.

This is driving me crazy and I don't have time to dig around in your wonderful archives, so here are my two questions.

When I first "met" you, your husband was building some crazy thing in your backyard and I can't remember what it's called.

And you mentioned, forever ago, a word that means that smell that I'll always associate with my hippie days. I can't remember that word either.

Please put me out of my misery.
