Bren J. tagged me with the Eight Random Things About Me Meme, which is handy since I'm rather creatively bankrupt today.
1. I don't wear jewelry. None. I'm totally married but I don't like jewelry, okay? Especially rings. My husband wears one, so at least one of us looks married.
2. I used to think that there wasn't a character in literature that I could identify with more than Anne Shirley. Talkative? Check. Overly romantic? Check. Prone to DIRE KITCHEN EMERGENCIES? Check checkity check. The only difference, of course, is that I am dark and not red-haired at all. That and I HATED school. But then Mad mentioned Mary Musgrove and there went that. Mary Musgrove, c'est moi.
3. I'm rather agoraphobic. It's one of the main reasons that we live in Little Town - not just because it's small but because it's totally known to me, which makes it possible for me to live an active, fairly normal life. I fantasize about living someplace more interesting but the very things that I yearn for would cause me to emotionally capsize eventually. I read things about Paula Deen with a wistful hope, because she was much the same at one point.
4. Is there a better song in the world than "China Girl" by David Bowie? No, there is not.
5. I would totally join the Amish if it wasn't for that hard work + no computers thing.
6. I have dozens of cookbooks, which is probably not that surprising but it IS random.
7. The Baby is this insane combination of fearless and really stubborn and by the time she goes to bed I am just exhausted and spent. She fell off the top step on the porch tonight and her dad caught her right before she landed face-first on the bottom step and I feel utterly emotionally drained right now because of the little maniac.
8. I love cardigans. Random!

So you want to be Amish for the fashion sense? Honey, monochromatics are so over. You know why I love the Amish? Fantastic names. The old testament is THE source for good baby names!
I don't wear jewelry either. I'm frequently surprised by how much that distresses other people.
Cardigans! That just makes me want to hug you. I don't really know why. Oh, yes I do!
Mr. Rogers=cardigan=cozy, comforting.
I live in cardigans. My momiform is jeans, tee and a different cardigan. Yes, I know I like to spice it up. :)
I don't wear jewelry. I am Mary Musgrove. I'm a tad agarophobic, myself; it runs in the family. Loves me the Bowie ("Just you shut your mouth.") I own a lot of cook books, and, uh cadigans? One word: LIBRARIAN! Thankfully my daughter is fearful and I have no desire to be Amish. Otherwise one of us would be redundant.
Numbers 3,5, and 6 are me too. Welcome to our world!!
#5? I totally agree. I love reading books about the Amish and mentally vacation there. It is so simple and lovely. Except I hate working...and I an deeply in love with the Internets.
ooooo, cardigans are so cozy.
I thought I was Anne Shirley till I read The Blue Castle, and now I'm sure that I'm Valancy. I can't go anywhere without a cardigan. I actually do have many cookbooks but never use them. The ONLY piece of jewelry I wear is my wedding ring. I LOVE my engagement ring, but I'm afraid to wear it (I lose/hurt expensive jewelry.)
I think there is something in us that deep down longs for the simplicity and innocence of the Amish. But ya, that work thingy and no computer brings one back to good ole harsh reality. I might have a thing about the no electricity, too. And the no heat in the house. Oh who am I kidding. I'd never make it in the simple life. :vD
This was fun to read...and I can't totally identify with Anne Shirley, but I absolutely wanted to be her friend. That Diane...I would have been a much better kindred spirit!
(Love the lipstick pictures below, too, of your naughty but cute little cutie!)
oh Anne Shirley .... How I totally "got" her!
China Girl -- HA!! :)
My colleagues often try to make me wear more jewelry, but I do not like it too. My ears are not pierced and I rarely wear a necklace - just to very special occasions. But I wear a ring because my grandma gave it to me.
I did the meme, too, and guess what: the cookbooks were in mine, too. I've got about 70 of them and have the most for reading only...
Helen@Muisto
I have one cardigan I wear all the time. All the time. It would be stylish. But I wear it ALL THE TIME.
And now I'm singing China Girl. Which is hard because I don't really know all the words ...
China Girl reminds me of being in a crush at a Bowie concert, with my arms pinned at my sides, and someone's cigarette ashes fell on my face and burned it and I had a scar for the rest of high school.
Good times.
And I'm old.
I'ma jewelry minimalist myself--I usually wear my wedding ring but can't these days because I have a cut right where the ring would be. So I'm totally bare!
I love cardies too.
Yes, hard work is, well, very hard.
Great list. Nice that 8 random things help us get to know you better.
Good list. I relate to Anne Shirley as well. I love cardigans, but only have one or two. My latest crazy is zip up hoodies, I love them!
I'm with Jenifer on the zippy hoodies. The one I'm wearing now has been my standard for at least a year and a half now. I hope it can go back to its normal shape after the Mystery Baby gets here.
I do enjoy me a good cardigan though. The best one I ever had was a hand-me-down from my Grampa. There's nothing (!) like a Grampa-sweater.
